Plan your career: First Steps

Aviation Rule #1. Stay away from the shiny spinning things

Before you rush into booking up your first flying lesson ….  STOP and do some PRE-FLIGHT PLANNING.

There are a few things you need to decide first.  Rushing in without some thought and research could end up wasting a lot of hard earned money, or worse … see you heading down a dead end path. Whatever you do.. please go and do an airline medical before you sign up for any training.

In this section, we provide some insight into the different type of pilot jobs.  Its not just airlines! We also describe the medical and educational requirements for your chosen career, and what you should do before you commit to a training path.

There’s some general information on the stages you’ll go through as you build your skills.

Training Paths

Aviation Rule #2. Never let an aircraft take you somewhere your brain didn’t get to five minutes earlier.

In this section we provide information on the different types of training and why you should choose the right one to get you to your chosen pilot career.

We also look at the various licences and ratings you’ll complete and provide a guide to the theory exams, how to pass them and the different requirements in individual countries.

Get that Job!

Aviation Rule #3. Always try to keep the number of landings you make equal to the number of take offs you’ve made.

When you’re chasing that job, whether its the first one or moving on up the career ladder, you can save yourself some time and heartache if you understand what your employer is looking for and how you can show you’re just the right person for the job! We provide all the inside information to support you on your way.

Resources

With decades of flying experience between us, we have all the technical information you need. From guides on Weather Radar, and understanding the FMS, to simulator tips and recommendations as to the best text books and crib sheets, you’ll find the best resource in this section.
