Becoming a Military pilot can be either a way of life or a stepping stone to an Airline or General Aviation career. Either way, Military selection can be tough so if you are still studying you need to keep in mind that the Military usually prefers “scientific” or technical qualifications. You will generally need a high college GPA or the equivalent high pass rates in your subjects.
If you have done some private flight training already, that seems to hold some respect with the selection board.
Most countries have various entry levels for pilot careers. You may enter as a Direct Entry Officer if you already have a bachelor’s degree or you can enter through a military academy and earn your degree as you train.
Different countries have different opportunities, but the division is usually Helicopters, Transport and Fighter.
Bear in mind you need to be a citizen of the country, over 18 and usually under 30 years old and will need to score well on a Basic Aptitude Test set by the Military Selection Board.
Life as a military pilot will mean you operate cutting edge aircraft and your day will certainly not be routine! Its a tough but exciting career choice.
